UTM Quantity Surveying and Construction Students Won the 4th RICS-RISM International Surveying Conference for Undergraduate Competition

JOHOR  BAHRU, 19 May: A big congratulation to Quantity Surveying and Construction Students of Quantity Surveying Department, who managed to won 4 out of 9 awards at the 4 th RICS-RISM International Conference for Undergraduates 2012 held on 18 and 19th May at UiTM Puncak Alam Campus. The conference is a series of annual event jointly organized by Royal Institution of Surveyors (RICS) and Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) host together with participating Universities on a rotation basis. This year, it was hosted by Universiti Teknologi Mara at Puncak Alam Campus. The conference provides a platform for undergraduates from the various accredited surveying courses in Malaysia as well as Asia Pacific Regional Universities to share and exchange ideas, promote understanding and networking apart from exposing the students to present their undergraduate research publicly.     Program QS-Bina Kembali Ke Pangkuan (QaSih ’12) merupakan satu platform untuk sesi perjumpaan semula para Alumni Ukur Bahan & Pembinaan serta mempereratkan lagi silaturrahim para mahasiswa Ukur Bahan & Pembinaan UTM dengan para Alumni Ukur Bahan & Pembinaan UTM. Jabatan Ukur Bahan, menyedari akan kepentingan memperkukuhkan  hubungan antara Alumni dengan UTM untuk membantu meningkatkan kecemerlangan UTM sebagai universiti terulung. Program ini juga bertujuan untuk platform mengumpul dana daripada para alumni untuk memperkasakan tabung Endownment untuk pembangunan mahasiswa Ukur Bahan & Pembinaan. “Disputology”: International Dispute Resolution in the Construction Industry by Professor Edwin H W Chan

Lecture to MSc students and others Date : Thursday, 10 May 2012 Time : 2.30 pm- 4.30 pm Venue : Seminar Room 1, Faculty of Built Environment The trend in managing construction disputes is to incorporate the most appropriate dispute resolution mechanism into the construction contract, thus avoiding disputes or quickly resolving them when they do arise. Many new, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms have been developed and most construction contracts have either one of the dispute resolution mechanisms, or a combination of them in the form of a multi-tiered dispute resolution (DR) mechanism, incorporated into their contracts, particularly for their large international construction projects.
