400 Penuntut 'terangi' Johor Bahru

JOHOR BAHRU 21 Jun - Lebih 400 penuntut daripada 21 institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT) awam dan swasta seluruh negara menyertai Bengkel Seni Bina Ke-23 anjuran Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) di sini, baru-baru ini.
Bengkel tahunan dikenali sebagai 'Terang' dengan kerjasama Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) dan Pihak Berkuasa Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar (IRDA) itu diadakan bagi menjayakan projek mahasiswa tahun akhir jurusan seni bina.
Pengarah Projek, Teh Boon Soon berkata, pelbagai aktiviti termasuk mengenali tempat menarik di negeri ini disediakan sekali gus membolehkan peserta terlibat mampu membina kreativiti dalam usaha melahirkan lapisan arkitek berkualiti.
"Antara program ialah pameran lukisan hasil karya pelajar IPT iaitu 20 lukisan menggunakan cat minyak dan air dipamerkan di Laman Tun Sri Lanang dan 20 arca di Plaza Seni Jalan Wong Ah Fook," katanya.
Beliau berkata, peserta turut dibawa mengunjungi Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim di Bukit Timbalan di sini bagi menjejaki laluan bersejarah yang menjadi mercu tanda pelbagai pembangunan di negeri ini.
Selain menyelesaikan tugasan berkumpulan dengan menjejaki 11 hentian yang dimulakan di Bukit Timbalan menyusuri Jalan Dhoby, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, Persiaran Tun Sri Lanang, Legaran Segget, Balai Polis Lama, Persiaran Meldrum, Stesen Keretapi Lama, City Square dan berakhir di Plaza Seni.
Seorang penuntut Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur yang berasal dari Kedah, Tan Jun Hong, 19, mengakui teruja kerana dapat mengenali lebih ramai rakan daripada IPT lain.
"Saya juga kagum dengan pelbagai rekaan seni bina beberapa bangunan lama di negeri ini sekali gus ia memberi pengalaman menarik," katanya.
Pendapat sama turut disuarakan dua penuntut Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Selamah Pazalo Rahman, 19, dan Nurhafizah Mohd., 20, yang gembira kerana berpeluang bertukar-tukar pandangan dengan rakan-rakan lain.
Malah, mereka yang merupakan sahabat baik juga teruja menjayakan pelbagai aktiviti yang diaturkan sepanjang program tersebut selain berpeluang menimba pengalaman baru.
"Kami sangat gembira kerana berpeluang menyertai program ini. Ini kali pertama kami mengikuti aktiviti yang melibatkan penuntut jurusan sama melibatkan pelbagai IPT dan ia memberi pengalaman menarik," katanya.

UTM Quantity Surveying and Construction Students Won the 4th RICS-RISM International Surveying Conference for Undergraduate Competition

JOHOR  BAHRU, 19 May: A big congratulation to Quantity Surveying and Construction Students of Quantity Surveying Department, who managed to won 4 out of 9 awards at the 4 th RICS-RISM International Conference for Undergraduates 2012 held on 18 and 19th May at UiTM Puncak Alam Campus. The conference is a series of annual event jointly organized by Royal Institution of Surveyors (RICS) and Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) host together with participating Universities on a rotation basis. PAWDEX Awarded Gold Prize at SIIF (Seoul International Invention Fair) 2015

November 29 – UTM-ISIIC FAB- FKA team won a Gold Award at SIIF 2015 for the development and commercialization of PAWDEX, an Urban Walkability Index Analysis Model. The multidisciplinary research team which was spearheaded by Assoc. Prof Dr. Hasanuddin Lamit; consists of Dr. Arezou Shafaghat, Dr. Ali Keyvanfar,  Dr. Kherun Nita Ali, Prof. Dr. Mohd Zaimi Abd. Majid, and Prof. Dr. Mohd Hamdan Ahmad. The research project was also supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysian Highway Authority (Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia-LLM), Qatar Road Safety Studies Centre (RSSC), and the Institute of Sultan Iskandar (ISI).
